Frequently Asked Questions

Will the RoofPod fit my vehicle?

Yes. The RoofPod tents (ComfyPod, CoziPod, and SoloPod) are designed to be universally compatible with most vehicles — SUVs, 4×4s, sedans, crossovers, bakkies, and compact vehicles.
If your vehicle can take standard roof bars/rack a RoofPod will fit.

If you are still unsure, send us a photo with your vehicle and rack and we can assist.

What crossbars work with the RoofPod?

The RoofPod is designed to fit most major roof rack brands such as Alu-Cab, Front Runner and Thule, as long as the load rating and length are correct.

The requirements for roof bars are:

  • dynamic load rating that is sufficient for the weight of the tent purchased
  • Two crossbars spaced ±70–90cm apart
  • minimum length of: 1250mm for CoziPod and 1350mm for ComfyPod

You will need to find out your load rating for your particular roof bars.

The maximum load limit of your roof racks/bars refers to dynamic the load (moving load). The static load of your bars is usually 7-10 times that of your dynamic.

For example, if your dynamic load is 50kgs, then the static load is anywhere from 350-500kg. When you set up camp and your car is stationary, your car and racks can take the combined load of the tent and  1-2 people sleeping on the roof racks.

Your load bars need to be the width of the your specific Pod to support the tent on its outside frame.

  • CoziPod – your bars need to be minimum 1250mm wide.
  • ComfyPod – your bars need to be minimum 1350mm wide.

If your bars are narrower and do not fully support your Pod, your warranty will not be valid and we will not be held liable to the wear and tear to your tent.

Check that your crossbars are from a reputable brand that has a guarantee and required weight limit.

Can the RoofPod fit on small vehicles like the Suzuki Jimny, Renault Duster or Toyota Rav4?

Absolutely — The RoofPod is one of the lightest rooftop tents on the market, making it ideal for smaller or lower-load rated vehicles.

  • Fiat Panda
  • Toyota Rav4
  • Daihatsu Terios
  • Mercedes Sedan
